Access Florida - Florida Medicaid

Access Florida - Food Stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance, and Medicaid

The Food Stamp Program helps people with low income to buy healthy food. The application can be done online. Please see the website for your local service center. The application is also used for Temporary Cash Assistance, Medicaid, and all other Dept of Children and Families services.

You can view the application in English, Haitian-Creole, or Spanish.

Children's Medical Service - Sarasota Area

We provide special medical care for children from birth to 21 years of age. We help those with chronic medical conditions. Appointments are made by phone.

Services Available Through This Program:

  • Child Health
  • Pediatricians
  • Special Needs
  • Speech Language and Other Therapies

Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday - CLOSED

Income limits based on age of child. Call for income review and more info.

Crisis Services - Charlotte Behavioral Health Center

Our center is a 24-hour, seven days a week facility. We provide interventions to those who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) offers:

  • Assessment and treatment services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Psychiatric Evaluation and Psychiatrist Rounds Daily
  • Staffing to include Nurses, Technicians, and Therapy staff around the clock to support the safety of individuals in an acute mental health crisis.
  • Voluntary and involuntary (Baker Act) admissions to residents of Charlotte and DeSoto counties
