Access Florida - Food Stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance, and Medicaid

The Food Stamp Program helps people with low income to buy healthy food. The application can be done online. Please see the website for your local service center. The application is also used for Temporary Cash Assistance, Medicaid, and all other Dept of Children and Families services.

Aging True is a non-profit agency that offers services to seniors. There are food services and household services. Seniors can get in-home therapy services through the home healthy agency. Downtown Ecumenical Services Council

DESC provides emergency services to those in need. DESC provides new and gently used clothing to meet clients’ needs. DESC provides limited emergency financial aid. Items most often classified as emergency needs are rent, mortgage and utility payments. DESC provides groceries for a three- to five-day food emergency. Grocery items include canned goods, milk, bread, cereal and more. Pleases call for more information.

Family Promise of Jacksonville - Temporary Shelter

Homeless families who come to Family Promise stay at a local congregation for one week. While there, they get three meals a day, case management and other services. They can use laundry facilities, a computer and get phone access at the Family Center. They will also meet with a social worker who will develop a plan of action to get the family on the path to self sufficiency. Please see the website for more information.

Jewish Family & Community Service helps with social and community services. Services are open to all who come for help. JFCS helps people get back on their feet by helping with food, past-due rent, and utilities. They also offer counseling, adoption services and older adult services.
