Access Florida - Food Stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance, and Medicaid

The Food Stamp Program helps people with low income to buy healthy food. The application can be done online. Please see the website for your local service center. The application is also used for Temporary Cash Assistance, Medicaid, and all other Dept of Children and Families services.

You can view the application in English, Haitian-Creole, or Spanish.

Economic Opportunities Council of Indian River County, Inc. helps low-income families. They offer Emergency Food Assistance.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Bring proof that a Food Stamp Application has been made
  • Complete paperwork & provide documentation of income
  • Meet household poverty income guidelines of 125%

Harvest Food & Outreach Center - Hunger Relief

Harvest Food & Outreach Center helps fight hunger in two ways:

  • The Cost Share Grocery Program; a membership based and provides families in need who qualify by income, with low cost food, hygiene and household products – the program subsidizes a family’s monthly grocery budget by 60 to 80 percent, providing a hand up needed to get through difficult times
  • The Emergency Food Box Program; designed to meet the immediate hunger needs of those who visit the campus while facing crisis

Indian River County Health Department - Human Services

Indian River County Health Department provides a county assistance program. This is done through their Human Services office. The office is located at the Gifford Health Center location. Help is given for one-time emergency situations.

Services that are provided to those eligible applicants are:

  • Assistance with indigent burial
  • Assistance with portions of utility bills or rent
  • Food Pantry
  • Prescription Voucher

Indian River County Health Department - WIC

WIC is available through the Indian River County Health Department.

  • Breastfeeding support and information
  • Checks for healthy foods including: milk, cheese, eggs, juice, cereal, whole grains, beans, peanut butter and a voucher for fruits and vegetables
  • Help in finding health care and other community services
  • Nutrition education to help your family eat well and live healthy lives

Roseland United Methodist Church - Ecumenical Council Food Pantry

Roseland United Methodist Church helps the community through their outreach ministries. They feed the hungry through their Ecumenical Council Food Pantry. Families who come to the Food Pantry are given a box of food. If a family has small children, diapers and baby food are available. For the homeless, the pantry provides backpacks with food items and other personal hygiene items. Call for more information.

Senior Resource Association - Social Congregate Meals

Senior Resource Association provides the Social Congregate Meal program. They give mobile older adults a hot, nutritious meal. They will be able to interact with others during meals as well. Meals are served lunchtime Monday through Friday at several locations throughout Indian River County. They will provide transportation for seniors to one of their Social Congregate Meals sites if needed. Call for more information.
