2-1-1 Crisis Center of Tampa Bay

This agency can help you deal with any number of crisis situations. Whether it is the trauma of sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence or financial problems, there is help. You can get referrals to over 4,600 area resources. You can receive confidential crisis counseling by dialing 2-1-1.

Help is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A trained volunteer is always here to help.

A First Step Counseling - Counseling Services

This agency has group and private counseling. Services include substance abuse counseling, domestic violence intervention, couples counseling and mental health counseling. There are also anger management and parenting classes. Groups and classes are kept small for better service to the clients. All clients are treated with dignity and respect.

A Safe Haven For Newborns - Pregnancy & Adoption Support

The aim of this agency is to prevent the abandonment of newborns. Women who have an unexpected pregnancy can find help here. Safe Haven is a safety net for mothers and their newborns. They help new mothers before they reach the crisis stage. Clients can get information and advice about adoption and parenting. Please see the website for more information.

A.F.I.R.E. of Pasco County - Adult Day Training

This agency helps developmentally delayed clients past the age of 22. Their goal is to promote independence so they can function within the community. Clients learn basic academics and can get computer training. They learn skills by going out into the community in small groups. They may go to the mall, library, grocery store or nursing home for hands-on learning and volunteer opportunities. They meet five days a week to reinforce everyday living skills.

AAA - National Family Caregiver Support Program

This agency gives help to unpaid caregivers for persons sixty or older. The goal of this program is to ease the emotional, physical, and financial hardships of continual care. Services include screening and assessment, respite care and counseling. They can help with chore services and medical supplies. A second part of the program helps grandparents 55 and over who serve as primary caregivers for grandchildren or other related children under 18. They can help with support groups, chore service, and legal assistance.

There is no charge for services.

AAA - Safety Phone Project - Pasco/Pinellas

This program increases the safety of at-risk seniors by giving them emergency cell phones. All cell phones will call 911 even if they are not connected to a service plan. This program provides free 9-1-1 cell phones to seniors and accepts donations of used cell phones. Each phone comes with a battery charger. The service is free. They are for use when you need police, fire or medical assistance.

AAA - Senior Victim Advocate Program - Pasco

This agency serves elderly victims of crime. It is for those who are not receiving services from any other victim aid program. It helps victims of fraud, robbery, assault, domestic abuse and more. The victim can get a Victim Advocate for help. Services include crisis and supportive counseling, court room orientation and court escort services. Seniors can get transportation related to the case, help with completion of paperwork and help with the victim compensation application. Seniors can get emergency legal advocacy and help with services to provide for a safe environment. It is for anyone age 60 or over. This office serves Pasco and Pinellas counties.

AAA - SHINE - Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Elders

SHINE is a free health insurance counseling program. Trained volunteers offer advice on Medicare, Medicaid, long term insurance, prescription assistance, and HMO's. Volunteers focus on consumer rights and protection. They also educate elders so that they can make informed decisions. There are counseling offices throughout Pasco and Pinellas counties.

Agency Community Treatment Services, Inc. - Transitional Housing

This is a long term residential treatment program. It is for those with alcohol, mental health, or drug issues. Residents attend group therapy, educational programs, AA meetings, and recreational activities. Later in the program, residents receive job counseling and help with getting employment and safe housing. The length of stay depends on the program.
