Access Florida - Food Stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance, and Medicaid

The Food Stamp Program helps people with low income to buy healthy food. The application can be done online. Please see the website for your local service center. The application is also used for Temporary Cash Assistance, Medicaid, and all other Dept of Children and Families services.

You can view the application in English, Haitian-Creole, or Spanish.

Bread of the Mighty Food Bank - Food Bank

Bread of the Mighty Food Bank partners with agencies and gives food to those in need within their communities. They also has 15 after-school snack sites in Alachua County. These after-school sites provide tutoring and help with homework. The Summer Lunch Program serves 34 sites in four counties. They also offers help to those applying for Food Stamps (SNAP).

Services include:

  • BMFB Service area: Alachua, Dixie, Gilchrist, Lafayette and Levy counties
  • After School Snack Program – serves 15 sites in Alachua County
  • SNAP Outreach – Food Stamp Assistance
  • Gainesville Harvest
  • Mobile Pantries – 20+ locations monthly
  • Summer Lunch Program sites – Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy and Marion counties
  • Hours of Operation: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (agency hours 8:00 am – 2:00 pm)

GCM - Food Pantry

The food pantry provides emergency food for those in need. It is given during times when food is otherwise unavailable due to limited incomes. A two day supply of food is given to each member of the household every 30 days. Please call for more information.

GCM - Gospel Food Ministries

GCM is a host site for Gospel Food Ministries. Anyone can order a box of assorted meat and groceries at low cost. It is then shipped to the Host Site once a month for pickup. Anyone can participate in the program as long as there is a Host Site in their area. Please see the website for more information.

Mayo Manna House - Food Services

MMH offers a free lunch to all Monday through Friday. They also have emergency food boxes to those in need. When fresh food or baked goods are donated, it is announced on the local radio station. There is also a computer available for those who wish to apply for Food Stamps or other State benefits online. Please call for more information.
