Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, Inc. operates several homeless shelters.

• St. Bede’s, permanent housing for adult men and women who are disabled and/or elderly
• St. Francis, shelter for single adult homeless men
• Teresa House, transitional housing for families

Keys Overnight Temporary Shelter provides showers and temporary overnight shelter. Gates open at 6pm daily. All guests are discharged at 7:30am daily. Referrals and information are available for community based programs. Call for more information.

KAIR provides Homeless Services. They do this through Independence Cay. Every day of the week, they welcome the homeless for a hot lunch, showers, and laundry. It is also open to all during inclement or cold weather. There are daily AA meetings as well as other classes that promote well-being and self-sufficiency. Transitional housing may also be available for men. Call for more information.

KAIR provides Rent and Utilities assistance. They may be able to help with a security deposit or grant towards rent. Water, electric and basic phone line help is also offered. Call for more information.

Safelink/Lifeline wireless phones are provided by TracFone to provide telephone service to those in need.

Those who qualify receive a free phone with free monthly minutes.

Those who live in Section 8 housing or receive Medicaid or food stamps may qualify.

If you have an illness that prevents you from working, you may be able to get Social Security Disability. You may also qualify if you will be unable to work for at least a year due to illness.
