Cold Night Shelter - Niceville & Valparaiso - Opportunity, Inc.

This program gives shelter on nights that have temperatures below 40 degrees.

The following services will be provided:
Gender specific area with mats and blankets
Supper 6pm - 8pm
Shower facility at some facilities
Referrals for clothes
Breakfast 6am - 7am
Dismissal 7am - 8am
The following places provide shelter between 6:00 pm and 7:00 am on nights when temperatures are forecast to be below 40 degrees overnight:

SUNDAY: Niceville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 214 Partin Drive South 850.678.4411

MONDAY: Niceville First Baptist Church, 622 Bayshore Drive 850.678.4062

WEDNESDAY: Unitarian Universalist FEC, 1295 North Bayshore Drive, Valparaiso 850.678.7197

THURSDAY: Niceville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (address & phone # above)

FRIDAY: Niceville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (address & phone # above)

Cold Night Shelters - Fort Walton and Mary Esther Area

Designated shelters will open when the temperature is 40 or below in the Fort Walton and Mary Esther area.

Emergency Shelter - Children in Crisis

The Emergency Shelter is part of The Children’s Neighborhood. It allows the immediate placement of children in a safe environment. Every child’s need is evaluated by a caring staff member. The Shelter is available 24/7. Staff are always on hand to help with the needs of abused or neglected children. The Shelter can house up to 16 children. They stay an average of 30 days and sometimes even longer.

Habitat makes homeownership possible for hard-working families. They are able to get a mortgage at low cost. It is for those who would otherwise be living in poor housing. Families are able to gain a sense of pride as they become part of a safe, thriving community.

The first step towards qualifying for a home is to meet the ten basic Pre-Qualifications. Then you send the required information to the Habitat office.
