All Children's Hospital - Child Life Services

The goal of this program is to reduce the stress a child has during a hospital stay. Specially trained Child Life Specialists work to help the child learn coping skills. They use play therapy to help the child understand and cope with their upcoming medical procedures. They assist the siblings of a child who has died and help them to understand and say good-bye. The team also works with families and help parents to cope with the challenges of parenting a sick child.

All Children's Specialty Care - Early Steps Early Intervention Program

This program has early intervention services for children from birth to age 3. They are referred by family, doctors or area agencies due to suspected developmental delays. Early Steps services are based on evaluations and the family's concerns, resources and goals. Services are provided where the family and child live, learn and play. Most services will be early intervention home visits.

CARD - Center for Autism and Related Disabilities - USF

CARD-USF provides information to families of those with autism. They can offer referrals for community support. Families are encouraged to take part in local activities. There are many online resources, including a community calendar. This shows local autism events. There are also support group listings. Families can get one-on-one counseling from a CARD consultant.

Children's Home Society of Florida - Gulf Coast

This agency strives to protect children and teens. They provide emergency shelter. They have a foster care program. They can help with adoption. Teens who are aging out of the foster system get skills and training to be self sufficient. Individual and family counseling are available. Please see the website for all services.

Easter Seals Florida - Early Intervention

This agency provides therapy services to children from birth through age 17. Stress is on children ages birth to 5. Therapies include speech/language, occupational, physical and developmental/early intervention. Therapy takes place either in the child's natural setting or at the Children's Therapy Center.

Early intervention helps babies and toddlers work toward growth goals. They are at a time in their lives when they are most ready to learn. They can most benefit from therapy during this time. Therapists work with the children to achieve the highest level of functioning.

Provides comprehensive case management to children and their families who are in need of child abuse and neglect prevention services or child protection and permanency services.
The Safe Children Coalition is a community coalition blending available resources to assist abused and neglected children and their families in reaching permanency in a safe and stable environment. Hours of operation: 8:00am-5:00pm Monday - Friday

Eligibility requirements: Eckerd Community Alternatives accepts case referrals where the primary child is 0 to 6 years of age and provides services. ECA accepts assignments of cases through Early Intervention Staffing (ESI) process and Child Protective Investigations.
