Children's Home Society of Florida - Independent Living

Children’s Home Society of Florida helps young adults live independently. Teens ages 13 to 17 in foster care and young adults who have just left the foster care system are eligible. If you are 18 or older, you must be in school and employed to be eligible. They will get you ready for adulthood. The day you turn 18, you become responsible for everything in your life, from paying rent to finding transportation, to grocery shopping. It can be overwhelming if you’re not prepared. They want to help you prepare for that day. In getting you ready to be an adult, you will not be alone.
Other ways they help include:

  • Budgeting
  • Career planning
  • Cleaning
  • Educational guidance. Want your GED? Graduate high school? Enroll in college?
  • Finding health care
  • Finding reliable transportation
