Marion Senior Services - Marion Transit Services

Marion Transit Services provide public transportation. This includes services for the transportation disadvantaged. They also help other sponsored and non-sponsored program recipients in Marion County on an advance reservation basis.

Service is provided according to the following needs as space is available:

  • Medical Needs
  • Recreational
  • Work

Services Provided By Drivers:
Drivers will help passengers from their doorway into the vehicle. They will also help them from the vehicle to the main entrance of their destination. Most vans are wheelchair equipped. Drivers cannot assist wheelchairs over more than one step or curb. Wheelchairs must not be any wider than 31 inches. Oxygen bottles may be taken if securely attached to the wheelchair or in a small bottle carried by passenger.

Marion Senior Services - Meals

Marion Senior Services provides Home Delivered Meals and Congregate Meals. They offer a hot, noontime meal, Monday through Friday. Meals are delivered by a volunteer and staff drivers as well as Marion Transit Service drivers. An additional feature of the program is to provide a daily check on the clients’ well being. If you drive, but need meals, there are several locations that serve them. Please call for locations, hours of operation, and other information.

Who Qualifies for Home Delivered Meals?

  • Adults under the age of 60 who may need meals on a temporary basis while recovering from an illness
  • Disabled adults under age 60
  • Seniors 60 and over who are frail and homebound

Christian Care Center

Christian Care Center is a not-for-profit corporation. It was founded by the membership of First Baptist Church of Leesburg, Florida. The church owns all of the property and the buildings which the CCC operates as a separate corporation. The ties between the church and the CCC are strong. Every member of the church is also a member of the CCC’s corporation, but the CCC is a distinct legal entity. They provide many services to those in need within the community. You do not have to be a member of the church to receive services.

Heart of Florida Health Center

Heart of Florida Health Center provides healthcare to all in Marion County. They offer a range of preventative and primary services. Help with medications is also available. The minimum charge for a visit is between $15 and $50. All charges for services are discounted on a sliding fee scale. This is based on your household income based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
