Trained counselors provide social services to children and families. Services include group and individual counseling to help youth overcome serous issues. They will deal with the problems that caused them to be removed from their homes. They will also get help in adjusting to their new home environment. Their families will be involved as well as everyone works to restore the youth back to their families. Parents will also have the chance to take part in the Family Life Education program. This agency has a mobile camping program. It combines Summer Camp and Youth Camp and offers it to areas that may be socially and/or economically challenged. The aim of this program is to teach youth how to use their free time in a positive manner. They will develop a high level of self esteem and learn positive leadership skills. Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches provides residental care to children in need. It is for ages 8 through 18. Youth are cared for by "cottage parents" who help them develop a strong work ethic, sense of teamwork and self respect. Each child must be recommended by the local Sheriff. FSYR offers a summer camp for youth ages 10-15. Kids can take part in many fun activities such as canoeing, archery and swimming. They have the chance to build teamwork and peer communication skills. They can also enjoy the tranquil outdoors. Campers will have the chance to interact with law enforcement personnel and volunteers and learn other social skills.
