BASE Camp Children's Cancer Foundation

We provide a year-round base of support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. We serve not only the children who are patients, but their brothers and sisters too.

Programs include:

  • 2nd Wishes
  • Milestone parties
  • Monthly overnight camps
  • Parent-support groups
  • Weekly events to help children pass through the toughest days of treatment
  • Weekly hospital-lunch delivery

We also provide food baskets to families in need of financial assistance.

Edgewood Children's Ranch

Edgewood Children's Ranch offers help to children with behavioral issues. Children have the chance to change their behavior while living at the Ranch.
Ranch life includes living in a cottage with several other students and two adults. Cottages work, play and eat together. Students are expected to attend classes during the week and church on the weekends.

Florida Department of Education - McKay Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

The McKay Scholarships for Students with Disabilities gives students with special needs the chance to attend a private school. The program is for students in grades K-12. Please see the website for more information.

The state of Florida offers health insurance for children from birth through age 18, even if one or both parents are working. It includes four different parts.

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches - Harmony In The Street Mobile Camping (Region 2)

This agency has a mobile camping program. It combines Summer Camp and Youth Camp and offers it to areas that may be socially and/or economically challenged. The aim of this program is to teach youth how to use their free time in a positive manner. They will develop a high level of self esteem and learn positive leadership skills. It also helps them to accept others and appreciate the cultural differences of all. Please call for more information.

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches - Residential Care Services (Region 2)

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches provides residental care to children in need. It is for ages 8 through 18. Youth are cared for by "cottage parents" who help them develop a strong work ethic, sense of teamwork and self respect. Each child must be recommended by the local Sheriff. GoodGuides

GoodGuides connects students with caring, qualified mentors. They are there to encourage healthy behaviors and support academic success. Meetings are on a weekly basis. The students focus on building the confidence it takes to be successful in school and in life.
