This group offers a program for blind teens and young adults. It is a transition program. The help available is for individuals between the ages of 14 and 24. The program is focused on job readiness. The Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) program provides limited financial aid to low income families. The amount depends on the family size and income. Families can also get Medicaid benefits. They are referred for requested social services. Individuals must be U.S. Citizens or qualified non-citizens. They must live in the State of Florida.
There are also cash benefits for children who have been placed by the courts into a relative’s home.
Homeless families who come to Family Promise stay at a local congregation for one week. While there, they get three meals a day, case management and other services. They can use laundry facilities, a computer and get phone access at the Family Center. They will also meet with a social worker who will develop a plan of action to get the family on the path to self sufficiency. Please see the website for more information.
