Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) - Field 8 Office

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities helps people with developmental disabilities. The group helps with living, learning, and working in the community. They offer a wide range of services. The available services and resources are to help people and their families. The group works with local organizations and private providers to support those being helped. Alachua County - Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center

The Alachua County Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center offers a program to help anyone who is a victim or survivor of violence. Victims do NOT have to report to law enforcement to receive services. All services are free and private.

Services Include:

  • Immediate outreach to victims of sexual battery
  • Face-to-face and telephone counseling
  • Support groups
  • Accompany and support victims through criminal justice proceedings
  • Transportation to court appearances and other appointments related to the victimization
  • Assist with application process for Victims Compensation and relocation for Sexual Assault Victims
  • Assistance with Protective Injunctions
  • Emergency assistance with urgent special needs
  • Personal advocacy
  • Information and referral
  • Community education, speeches, and consultation
  • Network with other victim service providers and state organization
  • Outreach services provided in the Gainesville Police Department
  • HIV Test Site

Anchorage Children's Home - Bridge Transitional Living

The Bridge Transitional Living program serves up to six youth in house and fourteen youth in non-residential services. It empowers these 16- to 22-year-old youths to become independent and fully contributing members of their communities. This work is done through an 18-month program. During this time, they will continue or complete their education. Additionally, they will work to obtain employment. They will also develop essential life skills. Anchorage Children's Home - Hidle House

Anchorage Children's Home provides Hidle House. This program provides safe shelter to youth while working on immediate family problems. These stays are often shot-term, up to 21 days. Other youth are placed as a result of abuse, neglect, or abandonment for up to 30 days. They provide shelter to youth ages 10 to 17 years old. Please call or visit website for more information.
