Youth Crisis Shelters - Youth & Family Alternatives

This agency runs several youth crisis shelters. They provide residential group care. The help is for youth between the ages of 10 and 17. These youth are runaways, homeless, or have been kicked or locked out by their parents or guardians. They may need short-term respite or crisis placement. Youth Life Learning Centers - Boselli Foundation

This agency strives to help children who live in at-risk areas on the north side of Jacksonville. The Youth Life Learning Centers focus on providing children after-school learning services. They are currently serving children up to the sixth grade. Each year the center adds another grade level so children can remain in the program until graduation. During the school year, the centers are open from 3:00pm to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. There is also a 6-week day camp during the summer. Children receive tutoring and have computer access. There are also a number of activities such as field trips, dance lessons and sports. There are currently two locations. Please see the website for more information.
