The Salvation Army of Martin County - The Compassion House

The Compassion House is a living facility. It is for homeless women and women with children. They provide a total of 8 bedrooms. Washing machines and dryers are available. They accept women or women with children who don’t have a place to live, provided they meet qualifications.

The mission is to provide the following services:

  • Emergency shelter, food, clothing and counseling for homeless women and women with dependent children
  • Help the women and children create and execute “Life Plans” (Case Plans) with the goal of having their clients achieve self-sufficiency, permanent housing and the ability to get back on their feet so that they can live full productive lives
  • Work diligently with other organizations to provide women and children opportunities for health care, childcare and employment

The Shelter provides:

  • All necessary hygiene items
  • Clothing as available from the clothes closet
  • Crisis intervention services
  • Dinner and breakfast
  • Free, unconditional and unlimited lodging accommodations to guests

  • Reserved bed sections
  • Showers with use of towels
  • Stationary and postage
  • Storage lockers

The Source - Housing

The Source helps men, women, and children who have nowhere else to go. They provide a range of services to the homeless within the community.

Services:

  • Cold night shelter at The Source when the temperature is forecast to fall below 35 degrees
  • Emergency shelter arrangements
  • Housewarming goods for the formerly homeless
  • Permanent housing solutions
  • Referrals for rental assistance to prevent impending homelessness
  • Referrals for Utility bill payment assistance
  • Temporary housing assistance

The Sources helps those in need. They serve as many as 120 guests for lunch and dinner daily.

Physical needs include:
