Utility Assistance: Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP helps pay home energy bills in times of emergency. The amount of payment is the minimum amount needed to resolve the crisis. These services are only available to eligible households on a seasonal basis. This usually means help during one winter and one summer per year. Clients are the elderly and disabled. Other clients are low income households with young children. The aim is to avoid health and safety issues during periods of extreme heat or cold.

The agency partners with the Jacksonville Electric Authority and Florida Power and Light.

Utility Bill Assistance - Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly

The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program is known as EHEAP for short. It is offered by the Department of Elder Affairs which helps low-income households with at least one person age 60 and older. The help is for emergency energy related costs during the year. Veteran's Services - Home Loans And Homelessness Prevention

This Program aims to prevent homelessness among veterans. The Program focuses on Veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. It strives to understand the unique needs of these Veterans. Its aim is to assist Veterans in maintaining housing stability.

You must have at least 90 days on active duty and have an honorable discharge. If you served less than 90 days, you may be eligible if discharged for a service connected disability.

Veterans Inn

Veterans Inn is a nonprofit organization. It was created by the Cosac Foundation. It is a renovated low-budget motel. That acts as a central resource center. The only focus of this agency is to provide a safe and supportive community for veterans that are homeless. At Veterans Inn they will receive housing and food. Some employment assistance is also available. The goal is to support and equip veterans with the tools they need. To recover, rehabilitate, and reintegrate themselves into civilian life.
