Family Assistance ServicesFlorida Sheriffs Youth Ranches provides residential care to children in need. It is for ages 8 through 18. Youth are cared for by "cottage parents" who helps them. The goal of Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) is to prepare all children age 4 for kindergarten. The program gives each child the chance to perform better in school and throughout life. The classes have smaller class size, appropriate curricula and substantial learning periods. The program is free. Please see the website for more information.
This state funded program provides a community-based service which gives an alternative to nursing home or institutional care. To qualify for the various services, the client must be 60 years of age or over. They must also be functionally impaired. Fees are based on a sliding-scale. It is dependent on individual income and current expenses. In many cases, no fee is assessed. Call for more information.
