Central Florida Community Action Agency - Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income households meet their home energy needs.

It may give several types of assistance:

  • Crisis Assistance may help eligible households who are about to have their utilities cut off due to nonpayment, or whose utilities have already been disconnected – the amount is based on need, up to the maximum allowed per household
  • Disaster Relief is offered during extreme heat or freezing weather, when the state has declared a weather emergency – this assistance may include utility payments, heaters, fans and blankets
  • Home Energy Assistance is a one-time payment benefit towards the household’s energy account, based on the total household income

Lucha is for those dealing with domestic violence and human trafficking. There is free legal help for immigrants. You can get healthcare and mental health counseling. Family Stability Program - Catholic Charities of Central Florida

This group has the Family Stability Program. The program offers homeless prevention. As well as rapid rehoming services. The help is for men and women. It is also for families. They are either experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless. There is financial assistance is available for those in need. They must meet certain requirements to qualify. Goodwill Industries - Suncoast, Inc. - Heritage Oaks of Ocala

Goodwill-Suncoast operates five apartment communities. They provide affordable living options throughout their service area. Each gives rent subsidies from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development on a scale. It is based on expenses and income. There are applications for apartments at each facility. Group Homes/Transitional Living - Arnette House, Inc.

This group provides services to youth. The children are between the ages 13-17. They are in need of long-term foster care placement. The group runs two homes. The homes focus on the physical and emotional well-being of the individual. The youth are given a healthy and supportive environment. They are also taught methods for sustaining basic life skills.
