Turning Point is a shelter that helps people with substance abuse problems. It offers detox and support services for homeless individuals. The shelter takes in adults who are drunk and coming straight from the street. It provides a place to stay, including cold night shelter, for those who haven’t started recovery yet. Daystar Life Center offers help with utilities and rent. They will speak on your behalf with the companies, and work to stop disconnection or eviction. This program provides limited financial help on a one-time basis. It helps those in need with utility costs. It also offers help in other emergency situations. The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program is known as EHEAP for short. It is offered by the Department of Elder Affairs which helps low-income households with at least one person age 60 and older. The help is for emergency energy related costs during the year. This housing complex offers new, fully furnished one-bedroom apartments. They are for both male and female Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans. Clients must have a need for supportive housing. The Workers Program is for single men and women who may stay up to 30 days. Participants must have a steady job or be working day labor. Many clients transition into the Job Merit Program. Please contact for more information.
