Housing ServicesFlorida Sheriffs Youth Ranches provides residential care to children in need. It is for ages 8 through 18. Youth are cared for by "cottage parents" who helps them. This group has two short- term residential programs. The length of the program depends on the person. The length can be from 6 months up to 24. The help is for adults experiencing homelessness. Lighthouse Ministries provides The Gospel Rescue Mission. They provide shelter to homeless and at-risk men as overnight guests. The shelter opens 3:30 PM daily. The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program is known as EHEAP for short. It is offered by the Department of Elder Affairs which helps low-income households with at least one person age 60 and older. The help is for emergency energy related costs during the year. The Salvation Army provides the Women's and Children's Shelter. It is a 62 bed facility for women and their children experience homelessness. This facility provides a warm and safe environment for women and children in need of emergency shelter. Check in begins at 4:30 PM daily and continues until the facility is full. This agency runs several youth crisis shelters. They provide residential group care. The help is for youth between the ages of 10 and 17. These youth are runaways, homeless, or have been kicked or locked out by their parents or guardians. They may need short-term respite or crisis placement.
