Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches provides residential care to children in need. It is for ages 8 through 18. Youth are cared for by "cottage parents" who helps them. Arcadia Outreach Office
Healthy Start is a program that screens pregnant women and newborn babies to identify risk factors for low birth weight and infant mortality. Healthy Start is free and available to everyone regardless of income. A team of nurses, social workers, and peer counselors assist families in finding out their needs. Classes are in English and Spanish. No appointment is needed.

Senior Friendship Centers offers Adult Day Care Services. Whether your loved one is frail, or has Alzheimer’s or other memory impairment, they are there to help. They will provide a safe environment for your loved one. Seniors will enjoy companionship and participate in programs and activities while you have time to care for yourself. Cost is $10 per hour. You can check for rates when you call. A sliding scale fee for individuals qualifying for assistance may be available. Contact for more information.

Friendship Meals on Wheels offers nutritious meals delivered to your door. This is a good option for persons that are homebound or have just been released from the hospital. Or, those simply in need of good nutrition but are unable to cook for themselves. Meals are delivered daily, Monday through Friday, based on drivers’ schedules. Meals cost $5 per person or 7.50 for two meals delivered to the same address. Homebound individuals 60+ receiving case management services can receive meals through this program without charge or for a nominal donation. A one month advance deposit is required. The Centers for Healthy Aging provide quality care for individuals 50+ who are uninsured or in financial need. Most sites accept Medicare. Patient fees are on a sliding scale based on ability to pay. Due to increasing demand, waiting lists may apply. Over the past two years, some patients experienced waits of up to three months or more for an appointment.
