Transitional Living Program - Abe Brown Ministries

This group offers the Transitional Living Program. It is a voluntary, faith-based program that is for men only. To participate in this program, participants must have recently been released from prison, must not have a latest charge of a violent or sexual nature, and must be over 18 years old.

This group offers an emergency shelter. It is the only emergency shelter open 365 days a year in the county. Clients participate in programs and workshops. These programs help promote self-sufficiency and personal development. They also help with transitioning into more permanent housing. There are on-site case workers available. Home Ownership Program - Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County, Inc.

This agency builds homes for low to moderate income individuals. They must meet certain criteria. Prospective homeowners need to help build the home, be able to assist with closing costs, and make monthly mortgage payments. These homes are sold to homeowners at no profit with a no-interest mortgage. To be eligible for this program, you must have lived or worked in Hillsborough County for the last 12 months. The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program is known as EHEAP for short. It is offered by the Department of Elder Affairs which helps low-income households with at least one person age 60 and older. The help is for emergency energy related costs during the year.
