This program is designed to make parents aware of their children's health issues. It aims to discover and prevent health problems. It encourages the use of doctors, dentists, and other services as needed.

The "Medicine Room" at MCHD helps all the clinics by ordering medicine and keeping track of what they have. They make sure clinics always have the medicine they need. They also give out prescription medicines to some clients.
These medicines include ones for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), people with epilepsy, and people with tuberculosis (TB). A pharmacist at the State Central Pharmacy fills these prescriptions and sends them to MCHD in a sealed bag with the client's name on it. The Medicine Room gives the medicine to the clients and answers any questions.
The ongoing focus of Child Health Services is to stress prevention, early problem identification and parent education. Immunizations are free for children age 4 weeks through age 18 years. There is no appointment necessary. The office hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5 pm except on the 4th Friday. Please call or visit website to find more locations.

The goal of this program is to protect children early in life by immunizing them against vaccine-preventable diseases. Routine childhood immunizations are free for any child through age 18, regardless of family income. Some vaccines (shots) need to be given more than once to protect your child.
