Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) serves Bradenton, Ellenton, Palmetto and the Gulf Beach communities. Local fixed bus routes run 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday – Saturday. No service is offered Sunday (except for Beach Express). See website for a list of fees. Also see website for routes.

Utility Bill Assistance - Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly

The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program is known as EHEAP for short. It is offered by the Department of Elder Affairs which helps low-income households with at least one person age 60 and older. The help is for emergency energy related costs during the year. The payments are made directly to the vendor. Or by a two-party check to the vendor and client. Please call or visit the website to learn more.

Healthy Families Manatee

Healthy Families Manatee is a free program that gives families useful information on parenting and child development. They offer tools to make parenting easier.

What can Healthy Families do for you and your family?
A family support worker will visit you in your home to:

  • Check to see if your child is developing as expected
  • Connect you to other community services your family may need
  • Help you learn healthy ways of dealing with everyday stress
  • Offer you encouragement
  • Provide information on your child's growth and development
  • Teach you positive parenting skills
