Union County Veterans Service Office - Education

Veterans and active duty personnel can get help with continuing their education. There are several programs available that can help.

Education Programs Include:

  • Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB, Chapter 30 and Chapter 1606)
  • Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)
  • Post Vietnam Era Veterans' Educational Assistance program (VEAP, Chapter 32)
  • Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP, Chapter 1607)

Union County Veterans Service Office - Employment

The VetSuccess program helps Veterans to find jobs. It is sometimes referred to as the Chapter 31 program. This program helps Veterans with service connected disabilities to prepare for, find, and keep suitable jobs. Some Veterans have disabilities so severe that they cannot immediately get a job. In this case, they receive services so they can live as independently as possible. In order to qualify, the Veteran must have had an honorable discharge.

Services Include:

  • Assistance finding and keeping a job
  • Comprehensive rehabilitation evaluation
  • Independent living services for Veterans
  • Job-training, job-seeking skills, resume development, and other work readiness assistance
  • On the Job Training (OJT), apprenticeships, and non-paid work experiences
  • Post-secondary training at a college, vocational, technical or business school

Union County Veterans Service Office - Home Loans And Homelessness Prevention

The purpose of this program is to explore ways for Veterans to have housing stability. The primary focus of this program is on Veterans returning from wars in the Middle East. Focus is also on the increasing number of female Veterans. Veterans need to have had at least 90 days of active duty. They must have been discharged honorably. For Veterans serving fewer than 90 days, they may be eligible if they were discharged for a service connected disability. Please call for more information.

Union County Veterans Service Office - Disability

Disability is a benefit paid to a veteran because of injuries or disease that happened while on active duty. It also applies to conditions that were made worse by active service. It is also paid to certain veterans disabled from VA health care. The benefits are tax-free. You may qualify for disability if you have had a service related injury.
