Programs Available:
The lifeline assistance program provides free cell phone service to low-income customers. Those who qualify also receive a free phone. There is a limit of one account per household. Other terms may apply. Visit the website to learn more.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps people pay their energy costs when they have an unpaid energy bill. The program works to help low-income families. For the first half of the month, LIHEAP gives priority to single mothers, those aged 60 or older, the disabled, and children under five years of age. All other clients are served the second half of the month. They can help every six months, once in the winter and once in the summer.
Matthew’s Nursery is a program that helps babies up to one year old. They give families in need items for babies that help to keep them clean, comfortable, and safe. The Project90 program offers case management. It provides a community of care for customers. They help people reach self-sufficiency in 90 days. It also teaches them lifelong skills. These skills will let them stay self-sufficient and eventually thrive. The program is for veterans. Please call 855.909.6757 or visit the website to learn more.
HUD provides a list of resources for people in Florida who are looking for help with paying rent. They also have a search for subsidized rental housing. Please call or visit the website to learn more.
This group runs the Senior Grocery Program. It helps feed low-income seniors in the community. All seniors aged 60 and up qualify. Enrollment in the program takes place at a distribution center. Please call or visit the website to learn more.
This group offers SNAP Assistance. An outreach coordinator can help determine if a client is eligible for the program. You will need to make an appointment. Please call or visit the website to learn more.
SSA has two programs for disability benefits. They are different but have the same medical requirements. The programs pay benefits to individuals. As well as certain family members. Please call or visit the website for more information.
