Service Animals - Canine Companions

People who are disabled due to injury or disease may qualify for an assistance dog. These highly trained dogs are able to assist with many tasks. There are 4 types of assistance dogs:

  • Facility - assists in an education or health care setting
  • Hearing – assists the hearing impaired
  • Service – assists with daily tasks
  • Skilled Companion – assists physically, mentally or developmentally disabled

Services for Veterans - Disabled American Veterans

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) helps America’s disabled veterans and their families.

Assistance includes:

  • Community outreach
  • Counseling
  • Death benefits
  • Filing claims for VA disability compensation and pension
  • Health care
  • Home loan guaranty
  • Information seminars
  • Life insurance
  • Represent veterans and active duty military personnel before Discharge Review Boards, Boards for Correction of Military Records, Physical Evaluation Boards and other official panels

Support Services - Center for Autism and Related Disabilities FSU

CARD is a group that works with people with Autism or related disabilities. They also work with the families of clients. The group offers free consultations, resources, and emotional support to those in need. Their goal is to help clients build knowledge and confidence in their daily lives and their care. Supportive Services for Veteran Families - 90Works

This program is called SSVF for short. It is for very low-income veterans and their families. SSVF provides case management and supportive services. This help is to prevent the loss of a veteran’s home. It can also help identify a more suitable situation for them. This offers rapid rehousing services for homeless clients. This program does not provide emergency assistance for rent or utilities. All clients receive Project90 services as well.
