Big Bend Cares provides Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA), offers assistance to stay where you are or find other housing.

The Jefferson County Health Department provides a variety of services. Cost of services will depend on Financial Eligibility and/or Sliding Fee Scale. Medicaid and Medicare are welcome. Some services have set fees.

The lifeline assistance program provides free cell phone service to low-income customers. Those who qualify also receive a free phone. There is a limit of one account per household. Other terms may apply. Visit the website to learn more.
This program helps babies up to one year old. They give families in need items for babies. These items help to keep them clean, comfortable, and safe. The Birth Cottage provides midwife services to pregnant women in need. All insurance companies, HMOs and Medicaid cover all or most of the fees. Payment plans are available.

This agency has several nutrition services programs. These programs provide a hot, nutritious meal for seniors. This meal meets 1/3 of the recommended daily nutritional requirements. The meals on wheel program is volunteer driven. It is for home-bound seniors. There is no cost to the senior. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday.
