Center for Independent Living of North Central Florida - Resource Center

The agency is a disability resource center. They help individuals with disabilities exert their rights to live as independently as possible. Services & Programs Available:

Christian Care Center - The Community Medical Care Center

The Community Medical Care Center provides medical and dental services to low-income patients. The patient must earn less than 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines. They must be able to show documents for proof. Once the patient qualifies, their care is free. There are doctors from many different specialty fields volunteer at the clinic. The clinic operates with a substantial wait time, given the demand for services versus the supply available. If you have a medical emergency, contact 911 or see a primary care doctor.

In addition to primary care, the clinic also provides:

  • Chronic disease education and care
  • Referrals for free diagnostic tests
  • Referrals for surgical procedures in some cases

Florida Homecare Specialists - In-home Health Care

This agency provides home health care in the home. They work with the patient's own doctor to deliver needed care. Care is provided by nurses, therapists, social workers and home health aides.

Services include:

  • Glucose monitoring and diabetes education
  • Homemaker and companion services
  • IV medication infusion
  • Patient assessment and observation

The Connect Program is a referral program. They provide many programs and resources. Some programs include infant safety, family planning, child development, nutrition, and more. Resources may include food, housing aid, employment, and more. This program is for pregnant women, infants, and families with young children. Eligibility is based on a screening. Healthy Start of Central & North Florida Coalitions - The MIECHV/Parents as Teachers Program

MIECHV/Parents as Teachers is a free program for parents with infants and young kids in stressful life situations. They teach parents and caregivers skills to help their children be healthy, safe, and ready to succeed in school. This program is for families with kids up to age 3 in Alachua and Marion counties.
