This group offers the Project Return program. It enhances and supports the process of helping people experiencing mental illness. And helps them recover productive and fulfilling lives. Independent Living Skills Training - Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind

This is an 8-week course for those who have recently lost part or all their vision. It provides clients with the skills needed to perform daily living tasks independently. The training program gives instruction in several areas including Braille, money handling and phone dialing. Students will learn about handwriting guides, adaptive cooking skills and household cleaning skills.

Direct Job Placement/Supported Employment for the Blind

This program provides employment services to people who are blind or visually impaired. The goal is to place them into jobs that are compatible with their interests and abilities. Services could also include direct training at the job site and help with issues that have an impact on the job. This includes issues such as transportation, housing and referrals to local resources.

Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind

This agency has training programs for people who are blind or visually impaired. It is designed to help each client be as independent as possible. There are programs for finding or keeping a job. There is a program for teens. The Early Intervention Program is for babies and young children. The Low Vision Clinic helps those who have some remaining vision.

All services are free except for the Low Vision Clinic.

Education & Training - Hillsborough County

Case workers can help job seekers with employment. They will assess the client for all needs and work with him or her for the best plan of action.

Services include:

  • Incentive payments for job-related purchases
  • Match applicants to available jobs
  • Referrals to other emergency services
  • Removal of potential employment barriers
  • Resumé and job application assistance
  • Same day 1-on-1 employment coaching
  • Training and retraining opportunities
  • Weekly job readiness workshops and networking

Women's Health Services & Support - A Woman's Place

This program provides support to pregnant women and new mothers. It offers counseling and addresses the issues that are important to each client. They will help you to meet goals, get parenting advice or resolve relationship issues. Women who are part of the program receive Life Points, which can be redeemed for new baby clothing, diapers and baby supplies.

You must be pregnant or have a baby under one year old to be a part of the program.
