Teen & Young Adult Programs for the Blind - Lighthouse of Collier

This group offers a program for blind teens and young adults. It is a transition program. The help available is for individuals between the ages of 14 and 24. The program is focused on job readiness. As well as independent living skills. The goal of the program is to prepare students for life after high school. Please call or visit the website for more information.

Temporary Cash Assistance-DCF- Pasco County Service Center

The Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) program provides limited financial aid to low income families. The amount depends on the family size and income. Families can also get Medicaid benefits. They are referred for requested social services. Individuals must be U.S. Citizens or qualified non-citizens. They must live in the State of Florida.

There are also cash benefits for children who have been placed by the courts into a relative’s home.

Temporary Shelter - Family Promise of Jacksonville

Homeless families who come to Family Promise stay at a local congregation for one week. While there, they get three meals a day, case management and other services. They can use laundry facilities, a computer and get phone access at the Family Center. They will also meet with a social worker who will develop a plan of action to get the family on the path to self sufficiency. Please see the website for more information.

The Bed and Bread Club

This group is run by the Salvation Army. They get food and comfort to those in need. They give people warm beds and healthy meals. They also have support services to help people rebuild their lives.

The Benevolence Ministry - Christian Care Center

The Christian Care Center operates the Benevolence Center. It provides food, clothing, and household items for free. The program is designed to supply families with 5 days of food. It also provides 8 pieces of clothing per family member each month. You can also make an appointment with a counselor once a month. They can help find out your current needs.
