Health ServicesNewboRN Home Visiting is a free program for women in Alachua County who give birth there. Within a week a registered nurse or midwife will visit. They will check on the health of the baby and mother, as well as help with breastfeeding and nutrition, give tips of how to safely care for the baby, and help connect the family to other local resources. MIECHV / Parents as Teachers is free for parents with infants and young kids in stressful life situations. They teach parents and caregivers skills to help their kids be healthy, stay safe, and succeed in school.

This Program uses service planning and community involvement. Healthy Start provides moms, newborns and families with the tools needed to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy birth. Those who wish to sign up can get a referral from their doctor. They can also call 813.307.8016. Services are free.
