Healthy Start is a program that screens pregnant women and newborn babies. They identify risk factors for low birth weight and infant mortality. Healthy Start is free for everyone. A team of nurses, social workers, and peer counselors assist families in finding out their needs. Classes are in English and Spanish. No appointment is needed. Healthy Start of Central & North Florida Coalitions - NewboRN Home Visiting Program

NewboRN Home Visiting is a free program for women in Alachua County who give birth there. Within a week a registered nurse or midwife will visit. They will check on the health of the baby and mother, as well as help with breastfeeding and nutrition, give tips of how to safely care for the baby, and help connect the family to other local resources. Healthy Start of Central & North Florida Coalitions - The MIECHV/Parents as Teachers Program

MIECHV / Parents as Teachers is free for parents with infants and young kids in stressful life situations. They teach parents and caregivers skills to help their kids be healthy and safe. As well successful in school.

Alachua and Marion counties: for kids up to age 3.
Bradford, Columbia, Hamilton, and Putnam counties: for kids up to age 5.

Healthy Start Program - Hillsborough

This Program uses service planning and community involvement. Healthy Start provides moms, newborns and families with the tools needed to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy birth. Heart of Florida Health Center

Heart of Florida Health Center provides healthcare to all in Marion County. They offer a range of preventative and primary services. Help with medications is also available. The minimum charge for a visit is between $15 and $50. All charges for services are discounted on a sliding fee scale. This is based on your household income based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
