The "Medicine Room" at MCHD supports all clinics by ordering drugs and keeping track of inventory. They keep clinics supplied with the medicines they routinely use. They also give prescription drugs to certain program clients.
Program prescription drugs include those for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) clients. They are also for epileptics and TB clients. These prescriptions are filled by the pharmacist in the State Central Pharmacy and sent to the MCHD in a sealed bag with the client's name on it. The Medicine Room gives these medicines to the clients and answers any questions they might have.
Two medication programs—for epilepsy and insulin--are available to low-income individuals. Anyone who meets the income eligibility can obtain these medications at no cost.
