Utility Assistance: Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP helps pay home energy bills in times of emergency. The amount of payment is the minimum amount needed to resolve the crisis. These services are only available to eligible households on a seasonal basis. This usually means help during one winter and one summer per year. Clients are the elderly and disabled. Other clients are low income households with young children. The aim is to avoid health and safety issues during periods of extreme heat or cold.

The agency partners with the Jacksonville Electric Authority and Florida Power and Light.
