Connexion Paratransit Services - JTA

Connexion is JTA's paratransit service. It provides transportation services to disabled and disadvantaged riders unable to use the fixed route buses or rail service. There are fees for each ride. Assessments for the service are done in person. Please see the website for more information.

Jacksonville Transportation Authority

This transit system provides safe and effective forms of transportation. Paratransit services provide rides for the disabled and elderly. There are regular bus services and community shuttles for certain neighborhoods. Skyway is the local monorail that serves downtown commuters. Certain areas have trolley service. Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) - Northeast Region

APD supports persons with developmental disabilities. Their goal is to help them live, learn and work in their communities. APD provides services to help clients find jobs, funding and supported living services. Please see the website for more information.

APD serves those with:

  • Autism
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Down syndrome
  • Intellectual disabilities
  • Prader-Willi syndrome
  • Spina bifida
  • Children age 3-5 who are at a high risk of a developmental disability

Divine Mercy House - St. Joseph's Catholic Church

This is a shelter for pregnant women over the age of 18 with no other children in their care. The house can accommodate one woman with a child under five in certain cases.

Education and job training are provided so the women can get a GED or college diploma. They will develop specific job seeking skills so they will be more self sufficient. Each woman stays an average of six to eight months after her baby is born.

Office Hours are Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm. The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day.

Legal Services - Hubbard House

The Center for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (CPDV) is a “one stop shop” inside the City Hall Annex. HH court advocates help victims of domestic violence with court mandated orders. They also help clients find a safe place to live and provide emotional support during the victim's transition process. Please call or visit their website for more information.
