Collier County provides the Senior Citizens Nutrition & Activity Program. This program is for persons age 60 years and older. They offer activities, field trips, and noon meals at neighboring senior centers. They also deliver meals to homebound seniors due to serious illness, and cannot attend centers. Senior Friendship Centers offers Adult Day Care Services. Whether your loved one is frail, or has Alzheimer’s or other memory impairment, they are there to help. They will provide a safe environment for your loved one. Seniors will enjoy companionship and participate in programs and activities while you have time to care for yourself. Cost is $10 per hour. Friendship Meals on Wheels offers nutritious meals delivered to your door. This is a good option for persons that are homebound or have just been released from the hospital. Or, those simply in need of good nutrition but are unable to cook for themselves. Meals are delivered daily, Monday through Friday, based on drivers’ schedules. Meals cost $5 per person or 7.50 for two meals delivered to the same address. Homebound individuals 60+ receiving case management services can receive meals through this program without charge or for a nominal donation. A one month advance deposit is required.
