RMHC of North Central Florida - Gainesville Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for families of hospitalized children. They can stay close to the hospital at little or no cost. Parents can focus on their child's health and keep in close touch with the child's medical team. The family can enjoy home-cooked meals and private bedrooms. There is a playroom for children. There may be a small per diem fee for a family's stay, but no one is ever turned away because of inability to pay. Please see the website for more information.

S.O.S Shelter - Community of Hope

This group has the Safe Overnight Stay Shelter program. It is called S.O.S. for short. It is a very short-term shelter program. It is for families who are unexpectedly or suddenly experiencing homelessness. The program focuses more on those families who are dealing with homelessness for first-time. There are two locations. One is in the south part of the county. The other is in the north part. Families have to call and be referred by 2-1-1. Please call or visit the website for more information.

Safe Harbor Maritime Academy

Safe Harbor offers at-risk boys the chance to live aboard their own boat and learn seamanship. The faith-based boarding school offers education for teens who are not thriving in their current school. Each boy receives the structure, guidance, discipline and love he needs in order to succeed in life. Salvation Army of St. Petersburg - Adult Rehabilitation Center

The ARC is a six-month residential substance abuse program for men. The Center houses up to 104 mostly indigent men at no cost to them. They receive meals and safe housing in a stable environment. They get group therapy, guidance and skilled spiritual counseling. They also learn trades such as furniture refinishing, appliance and computer repair. They refurbish donated items which are then sold at one of the SA thrift stores.

Santa Rosa Kids House

Santa Rosa Kids' House is responsible for coordinating agency partners and implementing of the Child Advocacy Center service model for child abuse. As one of over 900 Child Advocacy Centers in the United States, the Santa Rosa Kids’ House mission is to deliver a well-coordinated and multi-disciplined response to child abuse in an environment that puts the needs of children first. It is our vision to create a community where all children are nurtured to learn and grow in the context of safe and stable families that are equipped with the tools to prevent abuse and neglect. The Santa Rosa Kids’ House provides preventative, intervention and therapeutic services to children who have been sexually abused or neglected. Our facility uses the multidisciplinary team approach to reduce trauma to the child.
