Better Way of Miami, Inc. - Treatment Serivces

Better Way of Miami, Inc. provides three separate treatment programs.

  • Day/Night Treatment – Clients may continue to reside at Better Way East. They may also move to another Better Way sponsored housing Program. If not, they can reside in local halfway houses or shelters, or with family members. When they aren’t searching for employment, working, or attending school, they attend this intensive outpatient rehabilitation program. It is offered in the evening and during the day.
  • Outpatient Treatment – The ultimate goal of the Outpatient Treatment Program is long-term abstinence from drugs and alcohol. This is done through treatment planning. Group and individual sessions with each person will also be done. They will help them learn how to sustain sobriety through the 12-Step Recovery Model.

Big Bend Cares - HIV Testing

This agency provides FREE HIV testing. They offer the Clearview finger stick test (results in 20 minutes). Testing is provided by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 3:30 AM (Eastern Time) at Care Point Health & Wellness Center at 2200 South Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32301. Free at-home testing is also available, with the Take Me Home program. Test kits may be ordered on their website.

HIV tests can also be offered to groups. Big Bend Cares hosts testing events at colleges, health fairs and at other community gatherings.

Bradford County Health Department - Immunizatons

The BCHD offers vaccinations for all ages. They are free to all children through age 18, as Florida law requires immunization for daycare/school. Vaccines prevent serious and/or deadly diseases.

Adult immunizations include Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis A & B, Pneumonia and the Influenza vaccine, when available. Adults may pay on a sliding fee scale. For adult pricing, please call 904.964.7732.

Bradford County Health Department - Environmental Health

This agency provides monitoring and permits to places that provide public services. Their aim is to prevent the spread of disease to the general public. They regulate all public pools and bathing places. They inspect places that serve food (schools, daycares, bars, etc.). They look into problems such as sewage leaks, failing septic tanks and diseased animals.
