Women's Health Services - Duval County Health Department

Women should receive annual examinations for early detection. The health department offers regular tests such as mammograms and Pap tests. Women can also receive family planning services. Pregnant women can get prenatal care and counseling. The goal is to ensure delivery of a healthy baby. Insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid are accepted. If you do not have insurance, care is provided on a sliding fee scale. Please call your health center and speak with a Human Service Counselor.

This is a charter school that combines school and work experience for its students. 11th and 12th grade students spend part of their week working in a paid job. The other part of the week is spent in classes studying subjects needed for graduation. Students complete the same graduation requirements set by Orange County Public Schools.

The programs and services, offered through Wraparound, are driven by the needs specific to each family. The help given works to prevent certain situations or events. Youth Crisis Shelters - Youth & Family Alternatives

This agency runs several youth crisis shelters. They provide residential group care. The help is for youth between the ages of 10 and 17. These youth are runaways, homeless, or have been kicked or locked out by their parents or guardians. They may need short-term respite or crisis placement. They may also need emergency shelter due to abuse or neglect. There is no cost to families.

Youth Life Learning Centers - Boselli Foundation

This agency strives to help children who live in at-risk areas on the north side of Jacksonville. The Youth Life Learning Centers focus on providing children after-school learning services. They are currently serving children up to the sixth grade. Each year the center adds another grade level so children can remain in the program until graduation. During the school year, the centers are open from 3:00pm to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. There is also a 6-week day camp during the summer. Children receive tutoring and have computer access. There are also a number of activities such as field trips, dance lessons and sports. There are currently two locations. Please see the website for more information.
