Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program - Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County

The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program (VPK) is a free educational program that prepares children for kindergarten. Children must be 4 years of age and be Florida residents to participate. Children may participate in either a school year program consisting of 540 total instructional hours, or a summer program consisting of 300 total instructional hours. Youth Crisis Shelters - Youth & Family Alternatives

This agency runs several youth crisis shelters. They provide residential group care. The help is for youth between the ages of 10 and 17. These youth are runaways, homeless, or have been kicked or locked out by their parents or guardians. They may need short-term respite or crisis placement. Youth Development Program - Touching Miami with Love

This group helps kids from kindergarten to 12th grade. They work on improving their education and offer fun activities. The programs are in Overtown and West Homestead.

The children's programs include help with schoolwork, support at school, spiritual guidance, fitness, STEM learning, field trips, creative arts, social skills, evening dinners, mentoring, advice for after high school, and summer internships.
